In Depth

A relative of the famous Tanystropheus,‭ ‬Raibliania was a long necked archosauromorph predator that lived in Europe during the late Triassic.‭ ‬Although expected to have a body form very much like Tanystropheus,‭ ‬Raibliania has displayed clear differences in the form of the caudal vertebrae as well as the tooth.‭ ‬While tanystropheids have in the past been regarded as aquatic predators,‭ ‬more popular thinking suggests that the older interpretation of tanystropheids as beach combers may be the more accurate.‭ ‬As such Raibliania may have visited tidal pools to snatch up fish and other aquatic organisms that had been caught out and left behind by the outgoing tide.
