       Initially thought to be a diapsid,‭ ‬Apsisaurus was later realised to a Eupelycosaurian varnopisd.‭ ‬As a Varanopid,‭ ‬Apsisaurus was related to the more famous Varanops which also lived in Texas at the same approximate time as Apsisaurus.
