       Originally thought to represent an extinct species of Cerdocyon‭ (‬crab eating fox‭)‬,‭ ‬C.‭ ‬avius was moved to its own genus and named Ferrucyon in‭ ‬2020.‭ ‬Ferrucyon is also thought to be more of a vulpine type of fox.
