Afrocyon was one of the mid/late Miocene bear dogs.‭ ‬It may have lived alongside others such as Agnotherium,‭ ‬but so far the remains of Afrocyon are dated to a‭ ‬point after the last known remains of Agnotherium which might suggest that Afrocyon replaced this other genus.
