Size

Skull roughly 15.3 centimetres long. Preserved length of holotype individual about 60 centimetres long, but is missing the yip of the tail. Possibly up to 70-90 centimetres long in life depending upon the length of the tail.

Known locations

Argentina - Ischigualasto Formation.

Time Period

Carnian/Norian of the Triassic.

Fossil representation

Skull and partial post cranial skeletal remains including the vertebral column, ribs and hind limbs.

Orginally described as a species of Chanaresuchus, C. ischigualastensis was elevated to a genus level in 2014 and became Pseudochampsa. Pseudochampsa is a genus of proterochampsian archosauromorph, and would have been a relatively small predator mostly hunting smaller animals.
